This is a fabric sculpture of a wedding dress, embroidered with Persian words, and crystallized at the bottom. Wedding dresses are symbolic garments that every girl can wear, and the story they hold can be the story of her life. The story I have written on this dress reflects my own experiences of sexual and mental violence years ago. The crystallization on the dress might appear to be sugar, but in fact, it is Borax crystals. For me, sugar represents sweetness, while Borax, as a toxic substance, stands in stark contrast. These opposing materials symbolize the duality of love and trauma, two aspects of the same coin. The back of the dress, which appears as a chaotic mess, is deliberately left exposed, with visible threads. To the viewer, the front of the dress may seem like a beautiful creation, but the hidden story behind it is one of hardship and struggle—one that reflects the unseen battles faced in the pursuit of beauty and perfection.
